Outlander is a world wide phenomenon and thus fans are online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As a result bullies will be online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As the fandom grows and new people discover Outlander many of them may not be as familiar with Twitter as others.
The suggestion is to create a Anti-Bullying Watchtower on Twitter by estabilishing an account that is manned 24 hours a day 7 days a week with the fans from Outlander. All groups will be represented in this Watchtower group.
The group will assist folks who feel they may be victims of Cyberbullying. The account is set to accept Direct Messages from any Twitter account so reporting of cyber harassment can be private.
The account can be a secondary reporting account to report targeted harassment.
In addition a block list can be created that can be shared. The list will be maintained by the group. That way newcomers to the fandom can be shown how to add the blocklist to their own account and thus block accounts that have been determined to be cyber bullies making the fan’s enjoyment of all that the Fandom has to offer more enjoyable and protecting those that may be concerned about staying safe on Twitter.
Both the Watchtower and Blocklist ideas have been vehemently opposed to by the fans who do the most trolling in this fandom; the Obsessive Shippers who feel that advocating a blocklist or even using the Watchtower idea would severly impact their trolling.
One thing to point out is that the Obsessive Shippers actually have been employing their own shared blocklist of those they feel are undesirable since even before this suggestion was made. It’s a case of do as I say but don’t do as I do.
